About Tesla Lighting
LED lighting upgrades are one of the easiest and most satisfying Tesla modifications. Most are true plug-and-play replacements: you remove the factory bulb or light module and click in the new one. No wiring, no tools beyond a trim removal tool, and the improvement is immediately visible.
The most popular upgrades are puddle lights (the lights under the side mirrors or doors that illuminate the ground when you open the door), trunk lights, and frunk lights. Factory lights in these locations are often dim; aftermarket LED replacements are 3-5x brighter. Custom puddle lights can project Tesla logos, your name, or other designs onto the ground.
Interior ambient lighting kits add LED strips to the dashboard, door panels, or footwells. These connect to existing lighting circuits and are controlled via phone app or included remote. They don't affect the car's electronics or void the warranty since they use standard low-voltage connections.
Buying Tips
- Plug-and-play LED replacements need no wiring — they fit into the same socket as the factory bulb
- Aftermarket LEDs are 3-5x brighter than factory halogens in trunk, frunk, and puddle light locations
- Custom puddle lights project logos or designs onto the ground — popular for personalization
- Check lumen output and color temperature (5000-6500K for natural white) before buying — not all LED upgrades are equally bright
